Process
Pattern
Our pattern workshop is able to produce patterns in wood and plastic. This is where the foundation is laid for a top end product. We also use reputable subcontractors. This gives us
the capacity and quality assurance. '
Molding
The moldings are made of furansand in steel boxes. Minimum boxes are 700 * 500 * 300/200 and biggest boxes are 4000*4000 with varying height.

Melting / Casting
Iron melting takes place in 2 electric induction furnaces. Charge Weight is 3 and 3 tons.
Shot blasting/Fettling
After casting and cooling the goods are emptied out of the boxes. Then we remove sand residue and grades. The goods will be sandblasted and polished. Painting of the items with primer is performed at customers’ requirements and specification. We can also supply machined goods on request. This is performed by qualified
subcontractors.
Control / Laboratory
The company has a laboratory with modern equipment for chemistry, microscopic image analysis, mechanical properties and NDT. All melts are checked and adjusted chemically
before casting.

Since substances are added in the ladle, all charges are controlled before the chemistry elements. All ductile iron charges are controlled to see the graphite design. If you want to keep traceability the customer can order analysis certificate. Each piece is then marked with charge number and we print a certificate that shows the analysis of the relevant charge.
Works Certificate contains mechanical test results for each charge. Sample pieces are molded into the part, and are marked with charge number. Class certificate is is the same work certificate and a class company representative will be present at the test. We are approved supplier for grey iron and ductile iron at DNV-GL, Bureau Veritas and Lloyds Register of Shipping, American Bureau of shipping, Korean Register of Shipping and certify through most countries' classification societies.
Mandal Castings AS has Manufacturing Survey Arrangement with the Norwegian DNV-GL Kristiansand S office, BV and RINA. This makes certification faster and more affordable for our customers.
